Thaddeus C. Cleveland’s commitment to serving this country began with his proud service in the United States Air Force. His dedication to his community extended into eight years on the Terrell County Independent School District School Board, where he served as President for four of those years. His leadership reflects his strong belief that students and educators are the foundation of our nation's future, advocating for Texas to lead the way in preparing the next generation of leaders.
Currently, Sheriff Cleveland serves Terrell County, Texas, a role he assumed on May 17, 2022. Prior to his appointment, he spent over 26 years with the U.S. Border Patrol, including the last 11 years as the Patrol Agent in Charge of the Sanderson Border Patrol Station. Sheriff Cleveland’s career with the Border Patrol began in 1996, with his first post at the Nogales Border Patrol Station in Arizona. Over the years, he took on increasingly significant roles across Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico, including serving as an Assistant Chief in Washington, D.C. at the Office of Border Patrol.
With deep insights into the challenges posed by drugs flowing across the southern border, Sheriff Cleveland has witnessed firsthand the dangers these substances bring to communities. His experience and courage in confronting these issues have made him a key figure in law enforcement, focused on keeping our borders secure and protecting the lives of those affected by drug trafficking.
This version highlights his service, leadership, and direct involvement in addressing drug-related issues along the southern border.
