This is a timely replay!

Ed Bisch's journey began with a heartbreaking tragedy when his 18-year-old son, Eddie, died of an OxyContin overdose in 2001. Refusing to remain silent, Ed embarked on a relentless crusade against OxyContin's manufacturer, Purdue Pharma, and the family behind it, the Sacklers. For years, he has tirelessly fought to hold them accountable for the countless deaths caused by OxyContin addiction and overdose. In December 2020, Ed's dedication was highlighted in the MSNBC special, "The Forgotten Epidemic."

Recently, Ed has intensified his efforts, calling for the Department of Justice to prosecute the Sacklers. He founded Relatives Against Purdue Pharma to amplify his cause. A significant point of contention is Judge Robert D. Drain, who retired seven years early to join a law firm that was Purdue’s General Counsel in a multi-billion-dollar case he was handpicked for. Ed questions the legality of this move and has initiated a petition for the "Drain Curtain Law" to prevent judges from working for vested interests in cases they previously presided over.

Joining Ed in this fight for justice is Rick Mountcastle, a former federal prosecutor who dedicated over 32 years to the Department of Justice and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Virginia. Rick was the lead prosecutor on several high-profile health care fraud cases, including the first Purdue Pharma prosecution, which is prominently featured in the Hulu series “Dopesick.” His background as an Army JAG officer further underscores his commitment to justice. Today, Rick continues to advocate for victims of OxyContin and supports activists like Ed Bisch in their mission to hold Purdue Pharma and the Sacklers accountable.

Join us as we delve into the relentless battle for accountability, justice, and hope in the face of the opioid epidemic with our distinguished guests, Ed Bisch and Rick Mountcastle.
