In 2022, Anne Elizabeth Fundner's world shattered when her 15-year-old son, Weston, died from fentanyl poisoning. The tragedy has left her devastated and furious, convinced that the current administration's border policies are responsible for her son's death.
Anne describes Weston as her "perfect little bouncing baby boy" who taught her the meaning of unconditional love. As her firstborn, he opened her heart in ways she never thought possible. Their bond was extraordinary, and she cherished every moment with him.
The Fundners seemed to have done everything right as parents. They provided Weston with a stable, loving home environment, complete with nightly family dinners, fun outings, and memorable vacations. Weston attended private school, maintained a 3.5 GPA, played football and hockey, and had a wide circle of friends. Anne was deeply involved in his life, even serving as a room mom at his school.
Despite their best efforts, tragedy struck when Weston transferred to a public school. Anne believes he fell in with a new crowd, desperately wanting to fit in. Tragically, this led to a fatal decision. In Anne's words, "This was not an overdose, it was a poisoning." She firmly believes that Weston, under peer pressure, "tried something" he shouldn't have, resulting in his untimely death.
Consumed by grief and anger, Anne now directs her rage at political figures. She blames President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris (whom she bitterly refers to as "The Border Czar"), and California Governor Gavin Newsom. Her fury intensified when California authorities declined to prosecute the case, leaving her feeling betrayed by the system she trusted to protect her son.
Anne's story is a heart-wrenching reminder of how the opioid crisis can devastate even the most stable and loving families, leaving behind shattered lives and a burning desire for justice and change.
