With the recent series on Hulu - Dopesick (based on the best-selling book by Beth Macy), Purdue Pharma, the Sackler family, and their criminal misbranding and lying to the public about the dangers of Oxycontin. We will be doing several panels, including intimately involved people in the battle against these criminals. This first panel includes best-selling author - Gerald Posner; and freedom-fighting mom - Cynthia Munger.
Gerald Posner is a best-selling author and investigative journalist with a Pulitzer prize nomination to his credit.
He was a Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of California at Berkeley.
At Hastings Law School, Posner was an Honors Graduate and served as the Associate Executive Editor for the Law Review.
Gerald was a litigation associate at the Wall Street law firm of Cravath, Swaine & Moore and later provided pro bono legal representation on behalf of surviving twins of Nazi experiments at the Auschwitz death camp, which led him to coauthor his first book, MENGELE: The Complete Story, the bestselling and critically acclaimed biography of the infamous Nazi “Angel of Death,” Dr. Josef Mengele.
His just-released book, “Pharma” is an explosive and meticulously documented expose of decades of fraud, incompetence, conspiracy, and avarice of the pharmaceutical industry, including the involvement of the Sackler family.
For the past ten years, Cynthia Munger has devoted her time to the issues of substance use disease with a particular focus on Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family and their role in the opioid crisis. In 2019, Cynthia wrote and presented to Boston Opioid Spoon Conference a paper entitled “The Web of Conflict.” Cynthia is a listed officer in the Opioid Spoon Project non-profit, one of the five-person members of the Purdue Bankruptcy Ad Hoc Committee on Accountability, an active member of Friends of Safehouse, Bankruptcy Legislation Editing Committee, POPN, Founding Member of Mentor Program Interim House, and an active supporter of the Sackler Act, among others. Cynthia was interviewed for an Italian TV opioid special and a primary presenter in the soon to be released “Needles in the Hay.”
