If there's one conversation you have to have with your children it is about drugs. It is about the prevalence of drugs in our society, and that it's not enough to avoid the man on the street corner selling cocaine and heroin. That is a start and is positive, but how else does your child obtain drugs or highly addictive pain killers or anti-depressants and mood enhancers prescribed by a friendly family doctor.
People are walking out of the dentist's office with prescriptions for Oxycontin. Addicts don't just start with heroin. They start out with pot, alcohol, pain killers and when the pain killers don't do the job, they move on to heroin.
Does your child actually know what a drug is and what it they do to the body and mind? Can you explain it to your child or point them to true educational sources?
This is an audio only episode.
