If you’re an addict and you need help, sometimes what you get from your friends and family is more enabling than true help.  And if you’re the friends and family of an addict, you want to help but may not always know how to do that.  You want to care for your loved ones and that is understandable and commendble

There is help available and if someone you know is an addict, you should never ever stop helping.  But giving him or her money or allowing them to take advantage of you is not helping, it’s enabling their habit and it will result in the further downfall of the addict.
